This year is the inaugural Yass Million Paws Walk
Million Paws Walk is a fun day for any animal lover. Whether you’re a pet owner or not, it’s a great day out.
The main purpose of the event is raising funds and with over 144,000 animals finding shelter at the RSPCA annually, every dollar counts.
Million Paws Walk is a terrific day out for all and an important fundraising event for the RSPCA. Funds raised through entry fees and the sale of merchandise help assist the RSPCA to operate its animal shelters, support its Inspectorate services and provide community education on animal welfare issues.
Taking part in the Million Paws Walk is a great way to help animals in need. Each year, the RSPCA in Australia investigates more than 43,000 complaints of animal cruelty and neglect.
So, brush off your walking shoes, pull out your pet’s leash and bring along your “best friend” to Australia’s premier pet event.
The Million Paws Walk will take place in all states and territories on Sunday 17 May 2009.
This year we will be running a Million Paws Walk in Yass. Starting from the Yass Veterinary Hospital at 10am on Sunday 17th May we will have short walk around the streets of Yass finishing back at Yass Vet Hospital.

The RSPCA is a non government, community based charity which depends heavily on donations and support from the public. As it receives very little government funding the RSPCA relies on donations and fundraising to support it services.

Volunteer
The Million Paws Walk is such a successful event thanks to the large number of dedicated volunteers who are the back-bone of our largest fundraising event.
Volunteers are an integral part of all levels of RSPCA operations. They assist in many ways including caring for animals in the Shelters, assisting with administrative tasks, helping out in Opportunity Shops and of course assisting with special events such as The Million Paws Walk.
